Hello everyone, I’m Aya from the YouTube channel “Aya’s Food Adventures.” I am a Japanese woman living in Tokyo who loves to eat. Since starting the channel in 2021, we have released videos introducing popular restaurants such as hotel buffets and all-you-can-eat restaurants in Japan. These videos have been viewed by more than 1.2 million people, and we have over 10,000 subscribers worldwide. We have received many comments from viewers, such as “We are planning a family trip to Japan; which Wagyu beef barbecue restaurant should we go to?” and “Where do you recommend the best breakfast buffet?” As a public broadcaster, it is challenging to include all details and personal impressions in the videos. Therefore, I have decided to share my personal opinions and restaurant evaluations as a special benefit for participants in the exclusive Patreon community.
In 2023, the number of foreign visitors to Japan exceeded 25 million and is expected to increase further. Additionally, it is now easy to obtain information on local life in Japan through YouTube and social media even while abroad. On Patreon, I plan to provide my patrons with information that will help them choose restaurants in Japan and solve the problems of ordering when dining out. The first benefits of membership include: 1) a list of restaurants that Aya really recommends, and 2) an all-you-can-eat sushi order form with English translations (for several restaurants in the future). This list will be updated regularly, and we will add more benefits such as direct messaging, Q&A chats, etc.
The initial list, titled “Aya’s Honest Assessment of the List of Restaurants You Should Go To, July 2024,” was created in July 2024. If you have a Patreon membership, you can access the full list. We plan to update this restaurant list about once every two months. As we increase the number of restaurants on the list, we will continue to review our restaurant selection process.
Our YouTube videos mainly cover hotel buffets and all-you-can-eat restaurants due to high demand and viewership. However, many other high-quality restaurants represent Japan and offer excellent cost performance. For the time being, we plan to introduce some of these excellent restaurants in the list of recommended restaurants by Aya. In the first edition of this list, we have included a great place for casual and inexpensive Tonkatsu (Pork cutlet).
By joining my exclusive community, we can exchange useful local information for traveling, staying, and living in Japan, in addition to food. I also welcome those who do not plan to visit Japan but would like to learn more about the country. This is a new challenge for me, and I will listen to the questions and opinions of this community to reflect these interests in my YouTube videos and Patreon activities.
